What can I expect after a necklift?

There can be a fair amount of swelling and bruising at first. This can be improved with use of a drain tube, compression, and lymphatic massage.

Activity restriction is like with most other plastic surgeries (see my pinned video!). Usually 1 week off of work, though you may not feel presentable in public for 4-6 weeks.

The neck contour can usually be improved with suturing of the platysmal bands, lifting of the muscle and fascia, and selective defatting, depending on individual needs and anatomy.

The skin is also carefully redraped, to remove some excess, while avoiding an abnormally tight or “windswept” look.

This patient is seen at 3 weeks, with well on the road to recovery.
